August 2 Weekly Update

Dear Parishioners,

As many of you have noticed, work has begun on our front parking lot. These necessary repairs will help resolve the ongoing water issues affecting our parish hall and will benefit our parish community for years to come. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this project. If you are coming to spend some quiet time in prayer or to accompany Our Lord in the church, please use the main church entrance while the work is underway. As we joyfully celebrate the Feast of our patron, Saint Laurence, the parish rectory offices will be closed from Saturday August 8th through Monday August 10th. We will reopen on Tuesday, August 11, at 9:00 a.m. May the intercession of Saint Laurence continue to strengthen our faith and unite us as one parish family.

This is the last week for PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) registrations, formerly known as CCD. It will close on August 9th. If you have a child that is in a public school and needs to learn about Jesus, and receive the sacraments, contact the Religious Education Office and register them for classes. Please encourage other parents to do the same!

If you know someone age 16 or older who has not yet been baptized or still needs to complete the Sacraments of Initiation, we warmly invite them to join our Adult Faith Formation (OCIA) program. Registration for this year’s program is now open in the parish office. We would be honored to accompany them on their journey of faith as they prepare to receive these beautiful sacraments.

Tomorrow is the last day for CYO Fall Sports Registration: We are excited to announce that our CYO program has merged with St. Denis CYO for the Fall Sports Season! Registration is now open for Football, Flag Football, Cheerleading, Volleyball, and Co-Ed Soccer. All athletes must register through the St. Denis website using this link: CYO Once registered, you will receive additional information, team updates, and communications through the TeamSnap app. Please register before July 31 to secure your spot!

Jennifer Rose, our Senior Advocate, is sharing information regarding PRODUCE and do you get SNAP benefits? Have you lost food purchased with SNAP due to a power outage, flood, fire, or other disaster? If so, you may qualify for replacement benefits! The First-Class Relics of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque will be visiting our Archdiocese this September as part of their nationwide pilgrimage across the United States. This is a special opportunity to venerate the relics of the saint to whom Jesus revealed His Sacred Heart and to deepen your devotion to His infinite love and mercy. Como muchos de ustedes habrán notado, han comenzado las obras en nuestro estacionamiento del frente. Estas reparaciones necesarias ayudarán a resolver los problemas de filtración de agua que afectan a nuestro salón parroquial y beneficiarán a nuestra comunidad parroquial durante muchos años. Les pedimos paciencia y comprensión durante la ejecución de este proyecto. Para celebrar con alegría la fiesta de nuestro patrón, San Lorenzo, las oficinas de la rectoría parroquial permanecerán cerradas desde el sábado 8 de agosto hasta el lunes 10 de agosto. Reabriremos el martes 11 de agosto a las 9:00 a. m. Que la intercesión de San Lorenzo continúe fortaleciendo nuestra fe y uniéndonos como una sola familia parroquial.

Esta es la última semana para inscribirse en el catecismo de los niños, PREP. El plazo de inscripción finaliza el 9 de agosto. Si tiene un hijo que asiste a una escuela pública y necesita aprender sobre Jesús y recibir los sacramentos, comuníquese con la Oficina de Educación Religiosa para inscribirlo en las clases. ¡Por favor, anime a otros padres a hacer lo mismo!

Si usted conoce a una persona mayor de 16 años que necesite bautizarse o completar sus sacramentos, favor pasar a la rectoría para inscribirse a las clases de catecismo para los adultos (OICA). Sería un honor para nosotros acompañarlos en su camino de fe mientras se preparan para recibir estos hermosos sacramentos.

Mañana es el último día para inscribirse en los deportes de otoño de CYO: ¡Nos complace anunciar que nuestro programa CYO se ha fusionado con St. Denis CYO para la temporada de deportes de otoño! Ya están abiertas las inscripciones para fútbol americano, *flag football*, porristas (*cheerleading*), voleibol y fútbol (soccer) mixto. Las reliquias de primera clase de Santa Margarita María Alacoque visitarán nuestra Arquidiócesis este mes de septiembre como parte de su peregrinación nacional por los Estados Unidos. Esta es una oportunidad especial para venerar las reliquias de la santa a quien Jesús reveló su Sagrado Corazón y para profundizar en la devoción a su amor y misericordia infinitos.
