October 18 Weekly Update
Dear Parishioners,
Let us keep Pope Leo XIV in our prayers, asking the Lord to strengthen him, restore his health, and grant him comfort and peace. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and sustain him in his ministry as he shepherds the Church with faith and love.
The Knights of Columbus will be selling raffle tickets after all weekend Masses for a chance to win an exciting trip to see the Eagles vs. Cardinals in Arizona! The grand prize includes a 5-day trip for two from December 4–8 (game day December 6) complete with round-trip airfare, hotel lodging, and tailgate access. Second prize will receive $200 and third prize will take home $100. The drawing will take place on November 21st at the Knights of Columbus, so be sure to stop by after Mass to grab your tickets!
During the month of November, St. Laurence invites you to honor your deceased loved ones with a special tribute. 3 day candles will be available for a donation of $10 each. These candles will burn in front of the altar throughout the weekend of Nov. 7th – 8th as a visible remembrance of our prayers for the dead. Please come to the rectory before October 29 to pay for your candle(s).
The Well: A Conference for Young Adults — Bring the spirit of World Youth Day to Philadelphia! The Office for Ministry with Young Adults invites all young adults ages 18–39 to The Well: Young Adult Conference on Saturday, November 7, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM (doors open at 1:00 PM) at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown Philadelphia, followed by a Vigil Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Inspired by the theme, “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:35), the day will include dynamic keynote speakers, music, Adoration, Confession, fellowship, ministries, and a special Hispanic track. Mantengamos al Papa León XIV en nuestras oraciones, pidiendo al Señor que lo fortalezca, restablezca su salud y le conceda consuelo y paz. Que el Espíritu Santo continúe guiándolo y sosteniéndolo en su ministerio mientras pastorea la Iglesia con fe y amor.
Durante el mes de noviembre, San Lorenzo los invita a honrar con oración a sus seres queridos fallecidos con un homenaje especial. Habrá velas de 3 días disponibles por una donación de $10 cada una. Estas velas arderán frente al altar durante el fin de semana de noviembre 7 y 8, para el Día de los Fieles Difuntos, como un símbolo visible de recuerdo y oración. Por favor pase por la rectoría antes del 29 de octubre para dar su donación por su vela.
LA FUENTE Una conferencia para jóvenes adultos — ¡Trae el espíritu de la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud a Filadelfia! La Oficina de Pastoral de Jóvenes Adultos invita a todos los jóvenes adultos de 18 a 39 años el sábado 7 de noviembre de 2026, a partir de las 2:00 p. m. (apertura de puertas a la 1:00 p. m.) el evento concluirá con una Misa de Vigilia en la Catedral Basílica de San Pedro y San Pablo. Inspirada en el lema «¡Ánimo! Yo he vencido al mundo» (Juan 16, 35), la jornada contará con ponentes dinámicos, música, adoración, confesiones, convivencia, información sobre ministerios y un programa especial para la comunidad hispana. ¡Ven a encontrarte con Cristo, profundiza tu fe y renueva tu valentía para compartir el Evangelio!
