  • We’re so glad you’re interested in learning more about the Catholic faith! The Church welcomes those who are curious, seeking, or ready to take the next step through a process called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).

    OCIA is a guided, prayerful journey where you can grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ, learn about the teachings of the Church, and become part of our parish community. Whether you are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or a baptized Catholic who has not yet received all the Sacraments, this path is open to you.

    Each person’s journey is unique, and we walk with you at your own pace as you discern God’s call. Along the way, you’ll receive support, formation, and encouragement from both our team and the wider parish community.

  • Registering with the parish is a simple step that connects you more fully to our community. It helps you stay informed about parish life, receive important communications, and obtain year-end giving statements for tax purposes.

    Registration also allows us to keep accurate sacramental records, assist you in preparing for sacraments or serving as a sponsor, and provide pastoral care when you or your family are in need. It’s also the best way to get involved in ministries and parish events.

    Above all, registering is a meaningful way to say: this is my home parish.

    We warmly invite you to register in person by visiting the parish office during regular business hours. This allows us not only to complete your registration, but also to personally welcome you, get to know you and your family, and better understand any needs or ways we can support you. Building these relationships from the start helps us serve you more fully as part of our parish community.

  • Yes! Adoration is offered every Wednesday after the 8:30am Mass and concludes with Benediction at 7pm.

  • Yes! Our Church is open for private prayer Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 9am - 7pm. Wednesday there is Adoration in the church from 9am - 7pm. Fridays the church is open from 9am to 12pm. See our Church calendar for additional events.

  • Our priests are happy to meet with you, but their schedules can vary due to parish responsibilities and pastoral commitments. The best way to arrange a meeting is to contact the parish office by phone or email: 610-449-0600 or office@saintlaurencedelco.org. Our staff will help coordinate a time that works for you.

Holy Communion

The Catholic Church describes the Eucharist, i.e., the Sacrifice of the Mass, as “the source and summit of the Christian life” (CCC 1324). It’s the source, because the Eucharist enables us to make present and offer anew Jesus Christ’s one redemptive Sacrifice of Calvary, which began with his Passion (CCC 1362-68; 1341). It’s the summit, because the Eucharist is truly a foretaste of heaven, in which we partake of Jesus’ body and blood as heaven and earth become most profoundly one. Here you’ll find answers to some common questions about receiving Holy Communion at our parish.

  • Catholics who are properly disposed and in a state of grace are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Please refer to the Guidelines for Holy Communion for additional information.

    At Saint Laurence, we are blessed to have an altar rail available for our liturgies. When it is time to receive Holy Communion, please approach the altar using the middle or side aisles and fill an open space along the altar rail.

    Holy Communion may be received either on the hand or on the tongue, and communicants may receive standing or kneeling. All of these methods and postures are permitted and respected.

  • For Catholics

    As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including the intention of confessing as soon as possible (canon 916). A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.

    For our fellow Christians

    We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 §4). Members of the Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Polish National Catholic Church are urged to respect the discipline of their own Churches. According to Roman Catholic discipline, the Code of Canon Law does not object to the reception of Communion by Christians of these Churches (canon 844 §3).

    For those not receiving Holy Communion

    All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged remain at their pew and to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.

    For non-Christians

    We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.

  • Please let an usher know at the beginning of Mass, or when the distribution of Holy Communion begins. On Sundays, a Eucharistic Minister will come into the congregation to offer Holy Communion to those who are unable to approach the altar.

    An usher will be happy to assist and signal the Eucharistic Minister so that you or your loved one can receive Holy Communion comfortably and with dignity.

  • Absolutely! Extraordinary ministers perform two main tasks: they assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during the Mass and take Holy Communion to the sick and elderly who are homebound. Call our office and we will coordinate an Extraordinary minister to bring Holy Communion to your loved one. Call 610-449-0600.
